Happy 8 Months!

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

We’ve been Mr. and Mrs. for 8 months now!  How quickly time flies!  I finally got around to enlarging one of our wedding photos–I found a great deal on a canvas print–and we hung it up this past weekend.  I have a favorite wall of the house now!

We are looking forward to Spring Break, which is coming up in about a week.  We’ll be spending a few days away to relax and recharge!  Can’t wait!

Yes, that is the badminton trophy that Frank won with Alan!  =)

Happy 4 Months!

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

Though I’m still sick, we celebrated the day with my favorite cuisine (Japanese) and Frank even treated me to my favorite–a pearlie drink–on the condition that I got a hot one, not an iced one since I’m coughing.  You know what?  Hot pearlie drinks are pretty darn good!

Happy 3 Months with a Visit to Wente!

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

We celebrated 3 months of marriage today by returning to Wente for Sunday brunch.  Yummy!  Well, Wente sent us a gift certificate shortly after our wedding, and it was going to expire in 2 weeks so we figured we’d better use it.  Without the gift certificate, we probably wouldn’t have gone back just yet.

We invited my parents along as well, just to say “thanks” for hosting such a wonderful wedding for us.  It also made for a good time to catch up, because my parents had been visiting Hong Kong for much of September and October.

For starters, we ordered smoked salmon, lamb sausage, and caesar salad.  And for our entrees…ok, so out of the 4 of us, can you guess how many ordered Wente’s double cut pork chop?  (See answer below.)

Me and Frank with our caesar salad and his lamb sausage with polentaI LOVE Wente’s caesar!  And Frank really liked the sausage!

There were wild turkeys roaming the grounds today, right where we were married!

While driving home, Frank said that he didn’t think the double cut was enough for him.  I asked him if a triple cut would be enough, and he said he didn’t think so.  He said he thinks it needs to be a quadruple cut!  Good gracious!  My husband loves to eat!  :)

How many of us ordered the double cut pork chop?  Three.  I was the only one who didn’t.  But my farm fresh organic omelet was darn good!

Happy 2 Months!

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

We haven’t blogged in a long time!  We just celebrated our 2 month anniversary a few days ago and we marked the occasion by picking up our wedding photo proofs!  Looking through all the pictures has been a great way to relive the day!

Here’s a quick recap of some of our September activities:

Frank and I went to the 49ers opening day game against the Arizona Cardinals with my parents.  Had a great time even though our Niners lost. :(

Our Dream Dinners store had a booth at Newark Days.  We got a lot of good exposure for the store and signed people up for sessions.  Plus, I saw a LOT of Milani students, past and present, wandering around.  They thought it was pretty weird seeing me outside of “being a teacher.”  Some would say hi, and others would just walk by and stare.  Funny!

Frank and best man Alan played in a badminton tournament and won 3rd place.  Frank paid for it the next few days though.  He was so sore and looked hilarious walking up and down stairs!

We’ve spent most of our weekends cheering on the Cal and 49er football teams (at least one of our teams is doing pretty well!  GO BEARS!), putting wedding things away, and making room for our new kitchen items.

My goal of trying to keep to an earlier bedtime schedule so I’m not as tired as I was all of last school year has yet to be reached.  I’m getting closer to my target though, so I’m seeing this whole process as one of baby steps.  I’m working with a husband who is VERY much a night owl.  He always says he’s tired, but then he miraculously gets his “second wind.”  But he’s getting up much earlier in the morning than his pre-Dream Dinners days, so I think he’ll be on board with me sooner or later!

Just Married! Newlyweds! We’re hitched!

Monday, August 4th, 2008

We did it! We got married this past Saturday! :)

We had the wedding of our dreams! It was the absolute best day of our lives, and we are so grateful to family and friends who were there to celebrate our special day with us! Thank you so much! We only wish we had more time, as we didn’t get to a chance to talk to everyone…sorry!

We’re all set for our honeymoon, and if we get a chance, we’ll blog from beautiful Italy! See you when we get back!

**Thank you Mommy and Daddy! It was a perfect day, and it wouldn’t have been possible without you! I hope you know how much you’re loved and how special you are to us! And to our bridal party–Diane, Anita, Alyssa, Alan, Brycen, TK, Zachary, and Rev. Alan–thank you so much for everything!

We are truly blessed with wonderful family and friends!

Arrivederci!

1 Month to Go…and Licensed to Wed!

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Only one month to go until our wedding day! I don’t even know what to say…we thought the last 18 months would take forever to go by, but with everything going on, the time flew by so quickly!

With one month to go, we decided it would be a good day to get our marriage license. So we filled out the application, took an oath, handed over $75, and voila! We are now licensed to marry! How…official! :)

We’ve spent the last few weeks doing quite a bit of wedding preparation. We went cake tasting (yummy!), had a meeting with our wedding coordinator, booked 2 of 3 of our Italian hotels, picked out our ceremony music, ordered our ceremony programs…oh, and finally picked out centerpieces. Phew! Surprisingly, the centerpieces were the most difficult part of this whole process. I was crazed and, in turn, made Frank crazy. Glad we finally got this part taken care of! I know Frank is beyond relieved.

Last week, my mom came up to go to one of my wedding dress fittings. I got to try on my dress again, and the seamstress showed her how to bustle it up. Fun stuff! We also went to get my Chinese wedding gown made. My mom bought the fabric in Hong Kong the last time she was there and we brought it to a local seamstress (thanks to Katie for the reference!) so we could talk about the style and get me measured. I get to pick it up next week! I’m so excited to see it!

Next up on the to-do list: booking our last hotel, getting Frank’s wedding ring sized and engraved, and picking out all of our wedding reception music.

There’s probably other stuff that I’m forgetting about, but I’ll remember at the most random of times and add it to my list! Hopefully…

A Few Engagement Photos

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

We took our engagement photos in late May in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Most of the pictures were taken at the de Young Museum and the Japanese Tea Garden. I also wanted to get some shots taken at the carousel, just for fun. We brought Kiya with us too, because she’s just so cute and we love her so much! Thanks again, Mom, for dog-sitting for us!

Our wedding photographer, Augie Chang (www.augiechang.com), was awesome! We had so much fun taking our pictures!

More photos are viewable on our wedding website.  Please visit www.jenieandfrank.com.

2 Months to Go!

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

Yikes! 2 months to go until the big day! We can’t wait, but at the same time, we feel like there’s still so much to do!

Latest wedding planning updates: addressing invitations is in progress, I took my wedding dress in to get taken up and in, and we picked out the guys’ tuxedo ensembles. The boys are all gonna look so good! :)

The most exciting thing that we’ve done recently wedding-wise (besides my bridal shower of course) was taking our engagement pictures! We took them last week at various locations in Golden Gate Park. It was so much fun! Augie (www.augiechang.com) is so awesome. He’s got a great eye for the modern, but is down-to-earth and loves everything to be natural. The whole day was a testament to why we chose him in the first place. The experience made us feel so good about choosing him to photograph our wedding.

We’ve gotten a preview of the pictures so far, and will post some here soon!

Bridal Shower Fun!

Monday, May 26th, 2008

My best friend and matron of honor, Diane, hosted my bridal shower at her beautiful home last weekend. I had such a fabulous time! I can’t thank her enough for all the thought she put into it and everything she did to make it happen! A big thanks to my sisters, Anita and Alyssa, who helped Diane put it all together!

The shower was Italian themed, in honor of our honeymoon destination. From the decor to the food to the favors, everything reflected Italy! So cute! Here are some pictures from the day. The entire set of pictures will be emailed to everyone who came soon!

One of Diane’s gifts to me was a huge collection of lingerie on a line of tulle. It kept coming and coming out the bag! Frank had stopped by and we thought it’d be fun to have him model some! He wasn’t too happy! :)

Everyone was asked to fill out a card that included when each person first met me, three words they would use to describe me, a favorite memory, and marriage advice. By the time the shower was over, Diane had put together an awesome scrapbook for me. Amazing! It included pictures of me and each guest with the advice cards. How cute!
